There are some people, especially in the Pacific Northwest, who are Costco fanatics. They say that you can get anything you would ever want or need at Costco, and the popular Washington-based discount warehouse is proving them right as it is now expanding yet again into the bridal business. The chain is now planning to being selling wedding dresses designed by Kirstie Kelly.
They will be offering six styles that range in price from $700 to $1400, and the sizes will run from two to 24. At a time when many shoppers in the US are especially budget conscious, this may well appeal to many brides who are in search of an affordable designer wedding dress. Kirstie Kelly says that the gowns will be displayed in a special, separate section of the warehouse so that they won't just be sitting right alongside the super-sized bags of dog food, packs of toilet paper and off-price electronics that Costco is famous for.

The average bride in America spends about $1500 on her wedding gown, but you can get a quality gown for a lot less then that if you know where to look. If you're willing to spend the time sifting through racks of frocks and go without the pampering from a traditional bridal boutique, then you can save hundreds.
For example, there are sample sales where designers unload excess dresses to make room for the next seasons designs, and you can find discounts of up to 75%. Most of these occur during early fall and spring, but you can e-mail your favorite designers and bridal salons to ask about their planned events. But be careful when you are searching through the racks at these sales, because many of the dresses are floor models which may have stains, rips or other damage.

Women are known for being extremely picky about finding the right designer wedding dresses. The quest for perfection never ends, and major designers are always upping the ante to provide exquisite choices for the bride-to-be. They take their inspiration from international ladies fashion and traditions, but as the designer Yaccoub has said, these dresses can never have a nationality, they are designed first and foremost for a woman.
Style differs widely from woman to woman, and every bride has a certain ideal of the look she wants to create. Lately there has been a trend towards simpler designs that are free and comfortable to wear, according to designer Joumana Al Hayek. Yet Hayek is also the designer of the million-dirham bridal gown that is covered in 1.5 million Swarovski crystals. This exorbitant gown took over a month to create. For inspiration, Al Hayek combined the Romanian-style concept with modern and simple textures that would appeal to Arab women. Orders have already been placed for this over-the-top gown.
